To celebrate the thawing of the fields, and dusting off of our cleats, we’ll have a hat tournament!  All are welcome — you do not have to be registered for any league, or even be a part of Delaware Ultimate to participate.  It is a great way to introduce a friend to the sport.

When: Sunday, March 14th, 9:30 AM.  Arrive early so we can get the teams selected and games can start timely.  We will try and fit three rounds in so we can have one definitive winner.
Where: By the Can-Do playground at the Alapocas Run state park.  Yes, these are the great fields where we play league.
How Much: $5 gets you up to three games, plus a bit of food and fun.  Overage, if there is any, will go to support Delaware Ultimate.

There is no preregistration for the Spring Thaw Hat Tourney — just show up with $5 in hand and a will to play hard.

New Web Site

February 5th, 2010 | Posted by Pat in Featured - (6 Comments)

You’ve probably gathered that DelawareUltimate.com looks a bit different.  As you meander through some of the content on the site, if you see anything that looks odd, or jut isn’t working like you’d expect, drop my a note in the comments section.  (That’s right, comments are now enabled, so we’d like to hear from you, the Delaware Ultimate Community.)

For those of you still living in Internet Explorer 6 Land.  First, I’m sorry.  Second, some things on the site may not work exactly as expected.  IE6 is a nightmare and I won’t be supporting it in any designs going forward.  If you’d like to learn more about why, let me know and I can send lots of documentation your way.  I would strongly suggest moving up to the most recent version of IE (8), Firefox, Safari or Chrome.

Winter Pickup

November 16th, 2009 | Posted by Pat in Featured | Pickup News - (2 Comments)

Now that league is over, you have a burning hole in your Sunday schedule that needs to be filled. Filled with dreamy dreamy winter ultimate.

New Pickup

Sunday afternoons at 1PM in Rockford Park

If there is another activity taking up the fields, then we can play on the rear fields.

* Weather will not effect this pickup. I.e. if there is a little bit of snow, don’t wonder if it is happening. Throw on a sweatshirt and COME OUT!
* Pickup will play with current UPA rules. Also league level strategy will be employed (i.e. stalls, stacks, forces, etc). Still fun, still pickup, just smart pickup.
* Coed. Please please coed.
* Beginners welcome and encouraged. Learning and advancing your game is welcome and encouraged as well!
* First game is THIS SUNDAY (Nov 22nd) at 1PM! Bring a light and a dark! Bring water! Bring on your groove!

Please pass this on to email groups that you know who also play ulty, who might be interested (Arden, AI, Lums, PADA, etc). This pickup will not work unless folks know about it and come out.

Fall League Registration

August 18th, 2009 | Posted by Pat in League News and Information - (0 Comments)

Fall League registration will be open until Friday (8/21), so register now.

Ultimate players!

Wait list for fall league begins on Saturday, and there is no guarantee you will get on a team if you sign up after Friday, so register today!

Also, we are in need of women.  You know how much fun league is, and you know we are friendly to new players — invite women!  Sisters, daughters, the coworker down the hall you’d like to know better — let them know about ultimate and how much fun it is!  You are the best ambassador for the sport, and we need your help.

Top five ways to get your female friends to join ultimate fall league:
5)  You want to exercise, but hate treadmills?  You’ll run tons playing ultimate and won’t even realize it.
4)  Spirit of the Game!  We are not competitive, we don’t have refs, we are non-contact, and we self-regulate.
3)  Ultimate is such an easy sport for a new player to take up and enjoy…no prior experience necessary.  Just show up, and people will teach you.  Plus, there’s a pickup game nearly every day of the week to check out the sport and see what you think.
2)  Low commitment!  Once/week games + tournament is a lot of play for just $27 (including PADA membership).  Plus, you get a party at the end of the season and an official Delaware Ultimate frisbee.
1)   Great way to meet folks — we are not a social club, but we are social.  Especially great way to meet guys, and other like minded, fun spirited folks!

A few members of the Delaware Ultimate crowd joined the thousands of other players in Wildwood, New Jersey this past weekend.  There were a total of 102 fields, with most being used at the same time in games of 4 on 4.  Andrew Wisor took some photos for all to see:

That’s right folks, Delaware Ultimate has jumped on the Twitter bandwagon with it’s very own twitter account (deultimate).  Get game and pickup reminders as well as other short tidbits of information by following DEUltimate.

Go ahead and follow us… we’ll wait.
